Ching Mo School Rules
- All students of this martial arts school are expected to abide by its rules and exemplify the values of martial arts.
- Students are expected to be present 5 minutes prior to the beginning of class.
- When a student enters or exits the school, he or she must an appropriate gesture of respect.
- The only shoes permitted on the training floor during martial art training periods are authorized martial arts shoes/training shoes. Shoes must be clean and free of all debris before entering the training floor.
- Students should not bring valuables to class. Rings, watches and similar items of jewellery must not be worn during class. We are not responsible for lost items.
- Students of this school are expected to practice exceptionally good personal hygiene. Fingernails are to be kept trimmed.
- The beginning and end of class will always include a traditional sign of respect to both instructor and students.
- At no time may anyone smoke in any part of the school.
- Students are not allowed to eat or chew gum while in the training area during regular class times.
- Students may not spar or use martial arts equipment without the permission of an instructor.
- Never request the instructors to spar. Lower grades may request the higher grades to practice with them.
- When sparring, per our insurance proper equipment must be worn. The minimum requirement is a headguard and gloves. Optional equipment includes mouthpiece, chest protector, groin protection, forearm and shin protection. Students must purchase and look after their own sparring equipment. Equipment may be purchased through the association or elsewhere, however any equipment purchased externally will be subject to approval by your Sifu before use.
- Do not ask the instructors when you are to be promoted to the next grade if you have not met mandatory time requirements.
- If the student feels that he or she has been overlooked for promotion, the student may bring it to the attention of one of the school’s instructors.
- Techniques learned in this school may not be used or in any way applied while outside the class unless the safety of persons or property is in jeopardy.
- When class is in session, conversation among either participants or spectators is not allowed. This is especially true during forms and exercises. Spectators must keep noise at a minimum. Disruptions will not be tolerated.
- If a student of this school fails to conduct themselves in an acceptable manner either inside or outside the class, or if a students actions bring dishonour upon this school, fellow students, family, or society in general, this school reserves the right to withdraw any grades.
- Do not store your uniform or equipment in the school. Excess clothing and equipment will be discarded within 3 days.
- The primary use of Ching Mo Schools facilities is for martial arts training. No horse playing, gymnastics, acrobatics, or any other martial art, etc., at anytime. Only Wing Chun is to be practiced on the training floor.
- No hanging or playing on the equipment, do not touch the mirrors. Unruly conduct, swearing, and abusive language will not be tolerated in this school.
- At no time are you allowed to get anything out off display, especially weapons. Those items are for sale.
- Children who are not participating in a CMWCS class must be under the supervision of an adult at all times. Parents are responsible for any damage caused by unattended children.
- Students only on the training floor, unless requested by an instructor.
- Respect your school, your instructors, your fellow students, and your parents.
- All students must address instructors by title; Sifu, and Si-Hing.
- All students must wear complete CMWCS sanctioned uniform to class, uniform should be clean and tidy.
- All students must follow their instructor’s directions respectfully and promptly.
- Only level instructors are allowed to teach other students. Appointed helpers are allowed to assist the instructors only when requested.
- All training items such as rubber guns and knives and equipment such as sticks, poles etc., are only to be used with the permission of the instructor or within the context of a weapons class.
- Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to practice.
- Students wishing to train in any other martial art should seek permission and discuss with their instructor to ensure that there is no conflict with their Wing Chun training.
